Training Curriculum Development
Harvey S. Firestone --
"It is only as we develop others that we permanently succeed."
Why Formalize your On-The-Job Training Process?
On-the-job training in many organizations merely consists of hiring someone
and throwing them into the fire and hope they succeed. Others assign the trainee
to a "trainer" where they can see the job being done and then perform
under the guidance of the trainer. By formalizing the process, the trainer is
provided and well organized checklist that they can use to guide the training.
This assures that the training covers all aspects of the job and the trainer
can document where the trainee excels or may need additional training. It also
assures that the training is consistent from person to person regardless of
variation in the trainers. This formalized OJT training information may also
be used to develop career path opportunities and develop skill based pay incentives.

managers and even executives
- A method of determining certain knowledge, skills, tools and behaviors required
to perform a job
- Outlines what a successful worker in a particular job must be able to do
- Used to develop on-the-job training checklists and identify other training
needs
- May be used to develop career path opportunities and to develop skill based
